Road Trip!


“Life is a journey, not a destination.”

The National Dutch Oven Gathering offers a great reason to plan a road trip. We will be making the journey in our 5th wheel travel trailer so that we can take all of our dutch ovens and cooking equipment. We have mapped out our route, made reservations along the way, and plan to arrive Thursday before the event begins. This will be the first time we’ve visited Wooster, Ohio, so after we set up the trailer, we will have time to explore the area and do our tourist-thing.

The 2011 National DOG’s website has a page (Other Info) with recommendations of things to do in the area. We have lots of choices! It will be hard to choose between shopping and visiting the local historic sights.

Learn something NEW about cooking in a dutch oven!! This year in Ohio, there will be demonstrations every day at the 2011 National Dutch Oven Gathering. The topics include Make Your Own Dutch Oven Tags, Hearts R Healthy Dutch Oven Cooking, Making Cheese in an Hour and Eating it Too, Yeast Bread Demo, and Making Ice Cream in a Dutch Oven, just to name a few! Who ever thought that an Iron Chef could make Ice Cream or Cheese in a black pot????
